CARNITAS SOUP
Carnitas, a type of slow-cooked pork, are a household staple in the Mexican kitchen with its unique and authentic texture and flavor rooted in the traditional cooking methods from Michoacan. Richly seasoned, slow braised and deep-fried, Carnitas make a flavorful and filling main course.
INGREDIENTS
- 1-15oz package
Del Real Foods® Carnitas,Del Real Foods® Shredded
- 1 15oz cup
Del Real Foods® Salsa de Molcajete Verde
- 6 cups of vegetable stock
- 1 tablespoon garlic salt
- 1 tablespoon pepper
- 1 tablespoon cumin
- 3 large potatoes, diced
Toppings:
- Cilantro
- Sliced Avocado
- Sliced Jalapeño
PREPARATION
- In a large pot over medium heat add vegetable stock, diced potatoes, Del Real Foods® Carnitas, Del Real Foods® Salsa de Molcajete Verde, cumin, garlic salt, and pepper.
- Stir all ingredients together. Heat until boiling, then cover and reduce heat to medium-low and simmer for at least 5-10 minutes or until the potatoes are fork-tender.
- Taste, and add additional seasoning, if needed. Serve warm with toppings of your choice. Enjoy
